Electrical Engineer, Launch Infrastructure (Starship)

SpaceX is developing the technologies to enable human life on Mars and is building launch infrastructure for the Starship program. The Electrical Engineer, Launch Infrastructure (Starship) will lead electrical design, procurement, construction and commissioning efforts at Cape Canaveral, coordinating with contractors, utility providers, technicians and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable power and critical electrical systems for orbital launch operations.

Skills

  • Experience designing and building building infrastructure electrical systems (<600Vac).
  • Working knowledge of switchgear, motor control centers, VFDs, transformers, building lighting, and facility grounding.
  • Familiarity with critical power systems including UPS, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches.
  • Ability to perform Arc Flash, coordination, and power studies.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and International Building Code requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and assist technicians in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical project team, consulting engineers and contractors through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Define electrical requirements with internal and external stakeholders and translate them into design documentation and specifications.
  • Develop drawings, design documentation, and technical reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial projects.
  • Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors and drive contracts through close-out.
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time and provide direction to electricians and technicians during activation.
  • Coordinate with electrical utility providers to design and ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructure.
  • Support commissioning activities, testing, troubleshooting, and handover of electrical systems.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
