SimpleClosure is redefining the way businesses wind down, transforming what has historically been a painful and bureaucratic process into a seamless and compliant experience. Every year, hundreds of thousands of businesses in the U.S. shut down, and we aim to be the technology leader at the forefront of this overlooked yet critical lifecycle moment. Join us and make an outsized impact as we create innovative solutions for businesses, their teams, and their stakeholders.
We’re looking for a nimble and business-minded Product Counsel to work cross-functionally across product, sales, operations, and external partners to help shape and scale a compliance-first product, operational, and sales organization.
This role goes beyond traditional product counsel. As a legal tech company with a deep need for legal expertise, we’re looking for someone who can wear many hats. In addition to traditional corporate council responsibilities, this person will also serve as a legal advisor to our operations team on business dissolutions, act as a voice of legal expertise to existing customers, and join technical sales conversations to answer customer legal questions.
You should feel comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, collaborating across teams, and applying legal expertise to a wide range of challenges. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the foundation of a company where law and product are deeply intertwined.
Support our legal operations team with complex and sensitive aspects of the shutdown experience
Speak with customers and advise the customer success team when especially sensitive legal questions arise from customers, their investors or third parties involved in the shutdown process
Support the sales and partnership team with technical legal questions asked by the team, and when necessary, handle technical sales calls directly with prospective customers
Provide proactive legal support throughout the product lifecycle—from concept to launch and iteration—with a focus on regulatory compliance and risk management.
Translate legal and regulatory requirements into product policies, documentation, and workflows, especially around entity dissolution, state filings, investor communications, and tax wrap‑ups.
Collaborate with product and design teams to ensure user flows: dashboard, notifications, and document generation are legally sound and transparent.
Engage with regulators and stay current on business‑dissolution laws across U.S. jurisdictions to embed the most up-to-date compliance into our platform.
Review and negotiate third‑party contracts, vendor agreements, and partnerships.
Develop internal best practices, training, and product playbooks aligned with legal standards and user needs.

Strong understanding of corporate dissolution, state filings, securities/investor distribution, data privacy, and fintech regulations.
Excellent communicator: can break down complex regulatory concepts into clear, actionable guidelines.
Detail‑oriented with strong drafting skills in policies, terms of service, disclosures, and product documentation.
