Role Overview 

We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer with strong front-end development and database schema design experience. This role involves hands-on coding, system design, and collaboration with stakeholders. You’ll contribute to building applications using the NOW framework and grow into a technical leadership role. 

What you get to do in this role: 

• Lead engineers through the full development cycle, driving on-time delivery of high-quality products or solutions  
• Proven experience in architecting and implementing robust database schemas for complex applications  
• Build high-quality, clean, scalable and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes (Code Reviews, Unit testing, etc.)  
• Work with the product owners and designers to understand detailed requirements and own your code from design, implementation, test automation and delivery of high-quality products to our users.  
• Be a mentor for colleagues and help promote knowledge-sharing 

To be successful in this role you have: 

• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.  
• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience with JavaScript, and Java or a similar OO language  
• Extensive experience in designing and optimizing database schemas to support scalable and efficient data structures  
• Passion for JavaScript and the Web as a platform, reusability, and componentization  
• Experience with any of the modern UI frameworks like Angular, React or Vue  
• Proven experience in managing and executing projects from start to finish, ensuring their successful delivery  
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead stakeholder conversations and ensure clarity around project goals and challenges  
• Ability to manage projects with material technical risk at a team level 

Due to the nature of this role and its alignment with U.S. Federal customer requirements, only candidates who are U.S. Citizens, U.S. Naturalized Citizens, or U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) will be considered.
 
This position also requires successful completion of the USFedPASS (U.S. Federal Personnel Authorization Screening Standards) process, which includes:
 - A credit check
 - A criminal/misdemeanor background check
 - A drug screening
 - Verification of U.S. work authorization
 
These requirements are in accordance with applicable U.S. laws and federal contract obligations.

PE25

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $163,600 - $286,300, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
