Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction, Associate Vice President of Instruction, and College Initiatives, the Dean of Business, Computer Information Science (CIS), and Distance Learning will be responsible for the administration and supervision of the instructional area, including teaching assignments, staff evaluation and development, curriculum, budgets, advisory committees, and the administration of day, extended day, weekend and summer off erings. The Dean provides general supervision of the affairs of the area and works with college and district staff in all areas of responsibility, maintains liaison with community business and industry partners, and develops and supervises grants appropriate to the division.
The disciplines supervised by the Dean of Business, CIS, and Distance Learning include: Accounting, Business, Computer Information Science, Cybersecurity, Economics, Management, Programming, and Real Estate. Classes in these disciplines are offered on the main campus in Sacramento, the Davis Center, the West Sacramento Center, and other off-campus sites. The Dean also supervises the Center for Online Learning and Teaching (COLT).

Typical Duties
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Leading the Business, CIS, and Distance Learning Division in developing and implementing equity-driven, data-informed programs and services.
• Providing leadership in the Division for innovative student learning, for the assurance of student success, and for the continued evaluation and improvement of the area instructional programs.
• Providing leadership for the integration of career and general education courses and programs.
• Providing administration and supervision to the area, including evaluating faculty and staff, scheduling, budgeting, utilizing facilities, and supporting staff development.
• Managing division budgets and resources, including grant allocations.
• Supporting dual enrollment and leading and developing partnerships with the local community, transfer institutions, and feeder high schools.
• Overseeing the development and implementation of program advisory committees and working with the committees as well as industry representatives to identify industry trends and program needs analysis.
• Promoting staff development and supporting a climate that fosters innovation and academic excellence.
• Preparing and assisting with reports as necessary for grant agencies, the college, the district, and the state chancellor’s office.
• Collaborating with other instructional and student service divisions on college-wide programs to provide support to students.
• Collaborating with deans and other administrators on strategies for leading the college in meeting its goals and fulfilling its vision.
• Facilitating communication between the Business, CIS, and Distance Learning Division and the college at large.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Have a master’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Have one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment.
• Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
