Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising OT
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living, and adaptive equipment
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety strategies
- Monitor, measure, and document patient progress; report findings to the supervising OT
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and compliance with documentation standards
- Travel to patient homes and manage schedule and caseload independently
Education
- Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Completion of an accredited OTA/OT assistant program (associate degree)
- Valid state licensure to practice as a COTA
- Current CPR certification
