Staff Robotics Software Engineer - Path Planning
Skills
- Strong C++ experience and development in embedded/real-time robotics environments.
- Hands-on work with perception data (point clouds, meshes) and computer vision algorithms to inform planning.
- Proven experience in motion planning, kinematics, and multi-robot coordination for manipulators and mobile bases.
- Familiarity with ROS and robotics middleware for system integration and data flow.
- Experience validating algorithms in simulation and on physical robotic systems, including instrumentation and debugging.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and integrate path planning algorithms for robot arms, AGVs, and cooperative multi-robot systems using perception inputs (point clouds, meshes).
- Develop and validate motion plans in both simulated environments and real hardware, ensuring safe, efficient, and synchronized multi-robot execution.
- Work closely with perception, controls, and systems teams to convert sensor data into actionable trajectories and transforms across reference frames.
- Debug and troubleshoot software and hardware issues on complex robotic systems including kinematics, motion control, and networked robot coordination.
- Own architecture and code quality for planning stacks, contribute to CI/simulation tooling, and mentor other engineers on best practices.
Education
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred but not required when combined with extensive relevant experience.
