Additive Manufacturing Engineer II

Relativity Space is building next-generation rockets and advanced additive manufacturing tooling to produce high-performance liquid propulsion hardware. The Additive Manufacturing Engineer II will develop, optimize, and productionize powder-bed additive processes, own build-to-inspection workflows, execute material investigations, and create tools and automation to improve cost, quality, and lead time for Terran R components.

Skills

  • Experience with metallic additive manufacturing (powder-bed fusion)
  • CAD and design-for-additive manufacturing capability
  • Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design tolerancing
  • Familiarity with printer subsystems, post-processing, and LPBF concepts
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and quality management systems (QMS)
  • Ability to communicate technical information across multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize additive manufacturing processes to improve cost, quality, and lead time
  • Program build files, create manufacturing work instructions, and own end-to-end process flow from design-for-additive to quality verification
  • Productionize process parameters for multiple alloys and machine platforms
  • Execute material failure investigations, lead root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions
  • Design and build tools, automation, and techniques to accelerate process development and standardize performance benchmarks
  • Support material and process teams with characterization and alloy qualification activities

Education

  • BS in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
