Skills
- 5+ years of software development in general-purpose languages (Go, Python, Scala, Java, C++).
- Strong backend and API design experience with microservices architectures.
- Experience with distributed systems, streaming, and real-time data processing.
- Familiarity with datastores and analytics (Postgres, BigQuery, Redis, Druid).
- Knowledge of Kafka, Spark, Thrift, Baseplate or similar frameworks.
- Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo).
- Proven ability to own features end-to-end and operate production services.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own backend microservices and APIs for advertiser-facing products (ads.reddit.com).
- Build and operate distributed systems that deliver ads and measure campaign performance in real time.
- Collaborate with product, design, data science, UX, and sales to define and deliver product features.
- Improve operational stability through testing, observability, dashboards, and incident management.
- Develop extensible, maintainable components aligned with product goals and ship iteratively.
- Communicate project status, manage timelines, and drive projects to completion.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field is a plus but not required.
