Is a 35%+ markup normal for senior C2C roles?

Honestly I’d ask them straight up what their cut is for. If they dodge, there’s your answer.
I’d be less mad if they gave you health, 401k, PTO, something. But no W2 perks and still taking 35% is greasy
I’d push back if you plan to extend. They’ll say “admin fees” but it’s mostly just markup padding.
Not unheard of in shady staffing firms. They bank on contractors not asking questions.
yeah… $45/hr off the top? unless they’re giving white-glove concierge service (they’re not), that’s excessive.
That’s wildly high. 35–40% markup is usually for junior or short-term roles. For senior C2C, 15–25% is more typical.

I’m doing a 6-month contract (Corp to Corp) as a senior software engineer. No benefits, no W2 obligations, just clean C2C work. I recently found out the staffing firm is billing the client $125/hr while I’m getting about $80/hr. Is that a reasonable deduction for them? Or am I being lowballed here?
