The Role
We’re looking for a Principal Solutions Architect to join our team. In this cross-functional role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers, helping them design and deliver innovative real-time applications using PubNub SDKs, APIs, and platform features such as Illuminate and BizOps Workspace. You’ll combine technical leadership, AI expertise, and customer engagement to ensure our customers achieve long-term success and business value with PubNub.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering to align solution architecture with customer outcomes
- Guide customers through the design and implementation of scalable, real-time applications
- Develop tailored solutions and reusable architecture patterns for enterprise use cases
- Provide hands-on expertise with PubNub SDKs, APIs, and platform components
- Lead workshops, enablement sessions, and contribute to solution documentation
- Champion responsible AI-driven design, including personalization, prediction, and real-time insights
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 5+ years in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, or developer tooling, with direct SDK/API implementation experience
- Proven success translating complex business needs into scalable technical designs and leading cross-functional delivery
- Fluency in at least one modern language (JavaScript, Python, Java/Kotlin, Swift, Dart, Ruby) and experience building SDKs or developer tooling
- Expertise in distributed systems (Kubernetes, service mesh, secure APIs) and familiarity with CI/CD, testing, and modern developer environments
- Track record designing AI-driven solutions (personalization, prediction, real-time insights) with knowledge of frameworks such as RAG, embeddings, streaming inference, and vector search
Preferred
- Experience with real-time or event-driven systems (pub/sub, messaging platforms)
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR)
- Background in developer experience, technical writing, or developer community engagement
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and networking (AWS, HTTP, TCP/IP)
