Prudential’s Social Responsibility team is responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s philanthropic and employee community engagement strategies which are focused on driving social impact in the following areas:

  • Help individuals, workers and families build financial security and wealth by testing and scaling asset building pathways.
  • Create thriving and vibrant local communities by advancing equitable development and economic mobility, particularly in our home city of Newark.
  • Strengthen communities and nonprofit organizations through employee community engagement programs and capacity building initiatives.
  • Support disaster relief and recovery efforts for emergencies, natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
     

The team seeks a Manager to serve as a Program Officer in the Inclusive Communities portfolio to support the company’s philanthropy strategy in advancing inclusive economic growth in Newark, NJ. This place-based portfolio invests in partnerships that drive economic vitality and financial prosperity. The ideal candidate has experience serving as a Program Officer or working in the nonprofit sector to advance economic opportunities.

The current employee work arrangement for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect:

  • Support the Inclusive Communities portfolio by sourcing, evaluating, and structuring strategic partnerships with nonprofits to foster inclusive economic growth and expand economic opportunity for residents.
  • Conduct grant proposal reviews, including programmatic, financial, and strategic due diligence, and evaluate grant progress based on written grantee reports or site visits.
  • Develop funding recommendations and prepare written and oral evaluations and recommendations for approval.
  • Provide strategic management of nonprofit grantee relationships through regular communication, discussing challenges in meeting deliverables and providing technical assistance to grantees in execution of their grant deliverables.
  • Support the Director in establishing funding priorities and allocating the annual budget among grant applicants.
  • Support the measurement, evaluation and communication of impact metrics for the place-based portfolio, including data collection, analysis, reports and dashboards.
  • Research, develop, and present ideas for strategic initiatives designed to positively contribute to Prudential’s social impact strategies.
  • Represent the Inclusive Communities team on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Prepare internal and external communication materials such as board reports, issue briefs, websites, speeches, and press releases.
  • Represent Prudential at both internal and external events, and stakeholder convenings.
  • Collaborate in robust measurement and evaluation efforts.
  • Assist in other projects as needed.
     

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience, demonstrating increasing responsibility.
  • Subject matter knowledge around economic mobility and economic development a plus.
  • Solid understanding of nonprofit and philanthropic communities, organizational structures, and challenges; knowledge of grantmaking a plus.
  • Excellent writing, communications, and project management skills with a proven track record of writing and presenting to a wide range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders and proactively cultivate relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically across a range of social impact issues and topic areas.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills with a commitment to continual learning.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; nonprofit financial analysis skills a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and the ability to adapt to new software quickly.
  • Some travel required.

What we offer you:

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $107,300.00 to $166,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
  • Market competitive base salaries, with a yearly bonus potential at every level.
