Senior Director, Strategic Portfolio Management Team Lead

Role Summary:

Are you energized by the chance to bring clarity and simplicity to complex challenges? As Senior Director, Strategic Portfolio Team Lead, you’ll transform Pfizer’s digital portfolio management from a patchwork of processes into a unified, streamlined engine for innovation. You’ll architect the standards, tools, and practices that empower portfolio leaders across every Center of Excellence and Creation Center to deliver on our boldest ambitions.

You will serve as the enterprise architect and challenger for Pfizer’s digital investment agenda - ensuring every initiative is rigorously aligned to our digital strategy and future vision. You will partner with the Portfolio Leads to proactively inspect, challenge, and recommend bold moves to optimize resource allocation, accelerate value creation, and drive operational discipline. You will influence and enable the Digital & Technology Leadership Team to act with discipline and foresight—making recommendations that help fund the few, finish the vital, and re-balance as priorities shift.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise Portfolio Strategy & Governance

  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    • Champion the integration of AI, advanced analytics, and best-in-class practices to modernize portfolio management and accelerate decision-making.
    • Act as a change agent, driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
    • Identify low-value work, bottlenecks, and duplication across portfolio processes; recommend simplification, standardization, and automation in partnership with Digital Process Reinvention Lead.

  • Strategic Collaboration & Influence
    • Collaborate with the Portfolio Value Storyteller and Reinvention team to ensure a unified, compelling narrative for digital investments and to reimagine portfolio processes.
    • Influence senior management decisions, providing strategic recommendations that shape the direction of Pfizer’s digital transformation.
    • Make actionable recommendations to Digital & Technology leaders on portfolio optimization.

  • Center of Excellence Leadership
    • Operate as the strategic leader of a Center of Excellence for portfolio management, ensuring that standards, insights, and innovations are shared and adopted across all business units.

  • Leadership & Enablement
    • Build, mentor, and empower a high-performing team (2–4 direct reports), cultivating a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
    • Mobilize matrixed resources and partnerships to deliver breakthrough results.
    • Provide transparent insights, dashboards, and decision intelligence that enable senior leaders to act proactively and decisively.
