To make this real, we are hiring a Director of AI Products: an entrepreneurial builder who can turn emerging technologies into zero-to-one products that transform how users interact with Yahoo News & Home.
This is a highly entrepreneurial role inside Yahoo News: you will explore, prototype, and validate the next generation of AI experiences — from content generation to agentic companions — by working with a tight dedicated team as well as with other squads across Yahoo News to bring proven concepts to scale.
In this role, you will:
Lead AI innovation pipeline: scout, prototype, and validate new AI-driven features and user experiences that use our curation roots, editorial strength and extensive content network to super-serve our audience in innovative ways
Build with AI tools: design and test concepts including text-to-video pipelines, generative explainers, and agentic experiences powered by Yahoo’s content and editorial teams to create signal vs noise and keep users informed and entertained in new meaningful and convenient ways.
Translate ambiguity into opportunity: frame user problems and design experiments that test how AI can uniquely solve them.
Ensure quality & trust: create frameworks for iteration, feedback loops, and editorial oversight to maintain high standards for AI outputs.
Partner across Yahoo: work with Editorial, Engineering, Data, Search, Mail, and Commerce to integrate AI pilots into user-facing surfaces.
Socialize learnings: communicate results, playbooks, and risks to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Lead a cross functional team of innovative experts: You will lead a dedicated cross-functional squad resourced for rapid prototyping and interface regularly with leadership.
7+ years in product management, innovation, or applied AI product roles with a proven track record of shipping impactful zero-to-one products.
Deep experience leading, motivating and inspiring product development teams towards fast and effective execution in a fast-paced dynamic environment - showing real business and user impact in short time frames.
Hands-on experience building, shipping and iterating on user-facing features built on generative AI, agentic systems, and multi-modal content pipelines.
Strong understanding of product discovery methods, user research, and hypothesis-driven development.
Deep experience ensuring AI quality, safety, and transparency in consumer-facing applications and in building internal tools that support evaluation and optimization loops for AI-supported user-facing features
Ability to prototype scrappily, iterate quickly, and unblock independently.
Exceptional communication and cross-functional influence skills that drive stakeholder alignment and rally support across teams.
Experience in news, media, or content ecosystems.
Familiarity with editorial workflows, trust and safety in AI systems, and content quality frameworks.
Track record of scaling early AI pilots into production-ready products.
Passion for reimagining how AI can make news and information more useful, accessible, and engaging.

The compensation for this position ranges from $150,380.00 - $327,025.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
