Senior Product Manager - Outage Management

Help us use technology to make a big green dent in the universe!

Kraken powers some of the most innovative global developments in energy.

We’re a technology company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system. From optimising renewable generation, creating a more intelligent grid and enabling utilities to provide excellent customer experiences, our operating system for energy is transforming the industry around the world in a way that benefits everyone.

It’s a really exciting time in energy. Help us make a real impact on shaping a better, more sustainable future.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to define how Kraken supports utilities in preparing for, managing, and communicating during outages. You’ll shape an integrated suite of AI powered products and experiences that improve the customer experience for our utility partners by enhancing outage communication and visualization capabilities, simplifying outage reporting, improving estimated time to restore calculations, and customer communication.

You’ll collaborate across data, operations, customer, and platform teams to design and deliver the outcomes our clients need during both blue-sky and storm conditions, and you’ll work closely across teams to prioritize and deliver the capabilities that make Kraken the platform utilities rely on during outage events.

What you’ll do
  • Define and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for outage management across the Kraken platform.
  • Partner with utilities, client delivery, and internal product teams to identify key needs and prioritize impactful solutions.
  • Translate insights from real-world outage operations into clear product outcomes and measurable success metrics.
  • Collaborate with our Global Product teams to design, build and refine tools that improve outage visibility, communication, and restoration coordination.
  • Continuously learn from live events to improve product performance and customer experience.

What you'll have
  • 4+ years of product management experience in enterprise software with at least two years of experience in the utility industry.
  • You’ve worked in or closely with electric utilities and understand how outages impact operations, customers, and regulators.
  • You’re familiar with outage management systems (OMS), field operations, or grid reliability processes.
  • You’re a systems thinker who can connect customer experience, data, and operational workflows into coherent, scalable products.
  • You’re adaptable and thrive in a dynamic environment, whether working on a high-level product strategy or rolling up your sleeves to execute.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams, including engineering, UX and data scienceStrong analytical skills, with the ability to define and track key success metrics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management, balancing technical and business needs.
  • Comfort engaging with clients during sales, discovery, and delivery.
  • Passion for customer experience, with a strong focus on usability, efficiency, and empathy.

Why you'll love it here
  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options including FSAs.
  • Paid time off — we know working hard means also being able to recharge as needed, we trust our employees to get the work done and take the time they need.
  • 401(k) plan with employer match.
  • Parental leave. Biological, adoptive and foster parents are all eligible.
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits.
  • Flexible working environment: you need to shift around your schedule? You do you, we genuinely believe in work/life balance.
  • Equity Options: every Octopus employee owns part of the business. We’re a team, working together towards huge goals. Every person is crucial to our success, you should be rewarded as such.
  • Modern office or co-working spaces depending on location.
  • We hire a wide range of experience levels into our product teams. The salary range for this role in NYC ranges on average from $120,000-$150,000 (with some flexibility) depending on relevant experience, role alignment, and technical/client management expertise demonstrated throughout the interview process. While the broad salary range is listed, not all candidates will be placed at the top of the range—this will be determined by the overall fit for the position. If you have questions about this, just ask! Our recruiters are happy to provide more context.
