Summary of Duties

As a Child Protective Services Supervisor (ICWA), you will:
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, program standards, administrative rules, and legal requirements through case and workload reviews.
Lead a team of ICWA caseworkers to engage with Native American and Alaskan Native families while ensuring compliance with ICWA and ORICWA
Oversee service delivery strategies, ensure service continuity, assess client needs, and allocate personnel and resources accordingly.
Collaborate with state agencies, tribal nations, and community partners to coordinate services, maintain beneficial relationships, and participate in district planning and special projects.
Supervise staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and resolve complaints.
Provide orientation, ongoing support, case consultation, and mentoring to staff.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience; OR
A bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services; OR
An associate degree AND three years of human services related experience two years of which must have included lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR
An associate degree AND completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.
Essential Attributes

Leadership experience in a social service setting, particularly in Child Welfare.
Demonstrated ability to use teamwork in decision making and problem solving.
Demonstrated ability to recognize and leverage individual's strength and developing skills in team members to fulfill mission priorities.
Demonstrated experience with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and the Oregon Indian Child Welfare Act to apply their principles effectively.
Demonstrated experience to effectively communicate with Native American and Alaskan Native families, Tribal leaders, and community members, fostering trust thought empathy, active listening, and respect.

Working Conditions
Work Locations: Offices, homes of participants, and community sites.
Travel: Occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and other case related activities. This includes required occasional overnight travel.
Hours: Regular work week with fluctuating hours; occasional overtime may be needed, including evenings and weekends.
On-Call: You’ll be part of a rotating on-call schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements: Frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting children with car seats.
This role involves handling sensitive topics related to trauma, abuse, and crises, requiring a trauma-informed approach that is essential to ensure a safe environment.
You may interact with individuals who have experienced trauma and may have difficulty managing their emotions.
Be prepared for stressful situations that require quick decision-making to ensure safety for yourself and others.

The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship.
