Application Engineer, Real Estate and Workplace

About the Role:

The OpenAI Real Estate and Workplace (REW) team is seeking an Application Engineer with expertise in production-level Python coding, data integration, analytics, and domain-specific technology solutions. This role delivers significant business impact by enabling scalable, efficient, and highly automated workplace operations that directly improve employee experience, reduce manual processes, optimize resource usage, and support efficient data-driven strategic decision-making. Without this role, there is a risk of fragmented systems, increased manual work, limited scalability, and missed opportunities to fully leverage proprietary OpenAI technologies for workplace innovation. In this role, you will develop innovative automation and integration solutions tailored to real estate and workplace applications, leveraging proprietary OpenAI technologies.

In this role; you will:

• Develop and customize integrations with third-party REW applications (e.g., JIRA, OfficeSpace, Wayleadr) to automate workflows across multiple platforms.

• Integrate proprietary OpenAI technologies into existing REW operations, enhancing efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness.

• Design and deliver innovative product solutions tailored to the real estate and workplace domain, utilizing internal OpenAI technologies, to be shared with external customers and broader REW communities.

• Build and maintain real-time, sensor-based applications supporting key REW functions such as occupancy management, facilities operations, and employee-facing services.

You will thrive in this role if you have:

• Proven experience in software development and systems integration within the real estate or workplace domain.

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, JavaScript) for analytics and automation integration tasks.

• In-depth knowledge of APIs, integration frameworks, and handling real-time data.

• Experience implementing agent-based technology and applications using sensor data preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with excellent communication and collaborative teamwork skills.

• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering impactful results.

• Ability to efficiently multitask and swiftly adapt to evolving technological landscapes.
