Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Enabling Technologies team, providing technical direction and project oversight.
- Design protein engineering experiments using computational design, rational design, directed evolution, or combinations thereof.
- Express and purify recombinant proteins across hosts (bacterial, yeast, insect, plant) to high purity and yield.
- Develop, optimize, and validate protein expression systems, purification protocols, and functional assays.
- Operate, oversee, or collaborate with FPLC systems (e.g., ÄKTA) to ensure reproducible purification workflows.
- Troubleshoot protein folding, solubility, stability, expression yield, and post-translational modification problems.
- Integrate protein engineering outputs with in vivo and in vitro downstream applications and production teams.
- Establish metrics, milestones, SOPs, and QC processes; track progress and report to senior leadership.
- Stay current with literature and emerging technologies; propose and implement new tools and methods.
Education
- Ph.D. in Protein Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Postdoctoral or equivalent industry experience in protein engineering preferred
