NVIDIA's Cloud data centers host ground-breaking products across high-performance computing to machine learning applications for autonomous vehicles and healthcare. At the heart of our data centers is the ability to engineer mechanical and electrical designs in close coupling to NVIDIA's industry-leading GPU and DGX products. We are seeking a Senior Data Center Cooling and Infrastructure Engineer to craft high-performance data center's cooling and infrastructure.
What you’ll be doing:
Collaborate with other NVIDIA teams to develop and implement new CFD technologies and methodologies improving performance and efficiency of NVIDIA's products and services. Serve as a resident domain expert.
Apply engineering cooling methodologies for crafting solutions for both small and large-scale DC and manufacturing facilities.
Use data center computational fluid dynamics and flow network modeling tools for crafting contend facility digital twins from chip to chiller of small to large scale manufacturing facilities and DC modeling NVIDIA's high heat density servers, racks and PODs for any combination of air, single phase, two phase and immersion cooling applications.
Working closely with other team experts to build digital twin of manufacturing test facilities and data centers using NVIDIA's Omniverse and Modulus tools.
Design and conduct experiments for validating and producing accurate CFD models by comparing test results with facility BMS data.
Collaborate with various hardware, thermal, and data center engineering teams for reliability studies, debugging, and expedited resolution of hardware issues.
Engage with leading CFD software companies to drive their product roadmap to meet NVIDIA's requirements for high heat density air and liquid cooling solutions.
Create data center and manufacturing testing facility efficiency metrics for evaluating design effectiveness such as power utilization Effectiveness (PUE), Carbon Usage Effectiveness (CUE), Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE).
What we need to see:
Comprehensive Understanding of data center IT design, including server and network rack deployments with a focus on performance dependency on mechanical and thermal considerations.
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
12+ years experience including demonstrated ability in CFD analysis with 3-5 years’ experience.
Experience with commercial CFD software, such as Cadence 6Sigma Room and ET.
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for creating and modifying 3D models of electronic components and cooling systems, facilitating more accurate simulations.
Skilled in CFD models’ validation by aligning experimental results with simulation ones to ensure accuracy.
Capability to perform coupled analyses, such as thermo-mechanical simulations, to understand the impact of temperature on mechanical behavior and stress in electronic components.
Skilled in using optimization methods to improve the thermal performance of electronic cooling, finding the best design configurations for maximum efficiency.
Having software programming capability in MATLAB, Creo, SolidWorks, Macroflow, 6sigmaDCX, ANSYS Icepak, Flotherm, FlothermXT.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Working Knowledge and design ability for data center direct-to-chip liquid cooling technologies, including using liquid-to-liquid, liquid-to-air, single phase and two phase cooling distribution units, cold plates, manifolds for hybrid of air and liquid data center cooling.
Background with CFD analysis of data centers facilities.
Experience with creating digital twins.
Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
