This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Sr. Manager, Optical Materials will be located in Lake Forest, CA and is primarily responsible for leading team members in designing, developing, and testing optical systems and components. You will balance technical leadership with managerial duties, ensuring teams have the support, tools, and processes to drive innovation and maintain product excellence.
In this role, a typical day will include:
• Oversee project execution, resource planning, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-performance optical solutions that meet business and regulatory requirements
• Contribute to decision-making on technology selection, process improvements, and technical problem-solving
• Mentor engineers and align team efforts with company objectives
• Ensure adherence to GxP regulations by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate and complete documentation, and completing required training
• Commit to continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Experience and technical knowledge in LHPG crystal growth technology required

What You’ll Bring to Alcon:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
