Flock is looking for a Product Validation Engineering Manager within our Device Engineering Software team. This team is responsible for validating Flock product HW design utilizing low and high level software stacks developed in house. This role will make an outsized impact by leading the team from a technological and leadership perspective to design the hardware validation software suite of the Flock Safety product line and its associated peripheral components through SW enabled system tools and applications. You will work closely with Flock OS and HW engineering teams to deliver high quality, mission critical electronics.
Low level C Programming
BSEE or BSCE
High level scripting/programming for writing shared libraries and programs to test hardware and peripherals (Python, Ruby, Bash, etc)
Experience configuring and building Linux OS distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, Yocto)
Solid understanding of Schematics and electronic circuitry
Hands-on experience with PCB/Electronic system bring-up, debugging, and functional verification
Strong to expert knowledge in using testing and validation lab equipment: Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Function Generators, E-loads, logging, thermal chambers, Spectrum Analyzers, etc..
Strong to expert knowledge of common digital communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART) in Linux kernel environments
Linux Kernel/Driver development experience a plus
Experience with common/modern battery technologies a plus
Experience with RDMS to create data stores for test data to enable high and low level analysis
Strong experience working cross functionally with hardware, software, and cloud teams during product development
Motivated and result-driven team player with strong communication skills, demonstrable sense of ownership

The First 60 Days
Completely understand the high level electrical architecture of the existing Flock ecosystem. Recognize its role in our highly vertical customer offering.
Become involved in ongoing product design effort as needed - join project standups and related channels to observe Flock’s design methodology.
Make progress with ongoing product design and validation efforts
90 Days & Beyond
Become a true and independent leader within the team, having full ownership of a design work stream, and impacting decision making and cross-functional implementation/productization plans
Demonstrate full proficiency of all Flock development tools and demonstrate awareness of all Flock development processes.
Become highly available and communicative as a technical leader to your immediate team and cross functional stakeholders
Assume full ownership and responsibility of outcomes to the business - your impact at Flock will strongly influence the health of the business, positive outcomes to customers, and real-time reduction in societal crime.
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $170,000 and $220,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
