Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking candidates for the position of Digital Technologies Engineering Manager 2 to support advanced technology development programs.
This is a dual-role manager/digital design execution lead role. Management duties include supporting, developing, and tasking engineering staff; developing engineering process; and providing resources to meet program needs. The manager will also perform technical work on programs. The split between technical and functional management duties will be approximately 80% technical /20% functional, on average. The direct program work may include design execution, technical leadership, or other direct support of a program.

Lead a team of 8-12 digital engineers in management role. Administrative management responsibilities include staffing, performance and compensation management and career development.
Work with peers and leads in building strategies to address critical skills pipeline leveraging individual expertise and training opportunities. This would cover VHDL/FPGA, embedded Firmware, Digital board design and subsystems architecture. Develop appropriate technical training / work options; and improve team performance.
Execute in a direct contributor or technical leadership role. This role involves overseeing Digital designs involving FPGA, High speed Digital CCAs, Digital Subsystems Design and Architecture for teams involved in a diversity of design activities and applications. Responsible for translating and tracking requirements into executable design plans, providing estimates and driving productivity.
Partner with program management , establish methods for program execution, tracking of metrics, and engagement with product and engineering discipline leads for communication and continuous improvement.
Responsible for labor and material execution through cost account management (CAM) assignments.
Create, update, and maintain Digital engineering processes and procedures with peers across multiple BU’s.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields. 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
U.S Citizenship is required
An active DoD Secret Clearance is required
Design experience in digital technology including FPGA / Firmware and subsystems. Familiarity with EDA tools and process involved, like Xilinx-Vivado, Altera-Quartus, Mentor / Cadence.
Working knowledge of the engineering development process, sound understanding in fundamentals of circuit design, high-speed digital board design, RF concepts, digital subsystems / architecture and material properties, familiarity with other engineering disciplines.
Experience managing people in a functional organization as a direct supervisor/manager and/or significant team leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in STEM, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent.
9 years of experience in a multi-disciplined science/engineering environment.
Experience leading teams in Digital design including FPGA, Firmware, DSP, IC packaging and PWB/CCA design.
Solid understanding of Digital Architecture and Subsystems.
Proficient in the use of commercial CAD software (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics) in the design, layout of PWBs, Firmware / FPGA design (Altera, Xilinx devices- Quartus, Vivado), FPGA design (VHDL).
Experience with MATLAB and version control software like GIT.
Basic understanding of Digital System design and testing processes. Basic understanding of Advanced Verification methods and process.
Familiarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilities.
Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance
Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Salary Range: $149,400.00 - $224,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
