Under general supervision, teaches and instructs pre-school children in a curriculum of pre-academic social, adaptive, communication, and motor skills.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Early Childhood Education or a related field) from an accredited college or university.One (1) years’ minimum experience in an early childhood setting;
OR
Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field plus 12 college credits in child development and/or ECE.Two (2) years’ experience in an early childhood setting.
Skill In: Designing and implementing lesson plans for students having a wide range of achievement; effective communication with students, parents, or guardians, staff and administrators; working with children in an understanding, patient, receptive and confident manner; organizing activities in keeping with the maturity and attention span of assigned students; following written and oral instructions; managing student behavior; using standard office equipment, including personal computer.
Knowledge of: Early childhood education teaching processes and techniques; concepts of child development and developmental behavior characteristics; effective behavior management techniques; rules and procedures for child/student safety.
Ability to: Communicate effectively; work with students in a positive and confident manner; observe safe work practices; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships; arrive to work in a timely manner; attend required training; maintain confidentiality.
