ITS Media Services Lead Graduate Assistant (AY 25-26 C91288)

Media Services oversees technology in over 60 spaces on campus and provides services for all students, faculty, and staff. The primary function of the ITS Media Services Lead Graduate Assistant is to provide basic technical support for campus classrooms, meeting spaces, and special events. The Lead will also assist in the training and scheduling of other GAs. The Lead may be asked to cover higher profile events. The Lead may also be expected to fill in when staffing issues arise.

This position is compensated at the Level C rate on the MIIS student wage scale: $17.50 - $18.00 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

• Training other GAs on the use of equipment, ticketing system, and classroom and event space tech support.
• Assist in scheduling the other GAs
• Assist Senior staff with high level events
• Use technology already installed in event locations and set up portable equipment as necessary.
• Arrive on time for events and maintain an accurate and up-to-date schedule of work. Use the ITS ticketing system to track information about events leading up to them.

• Provide exceptional customer service to all students, faculty, and staff
• Cover the front desk during office hours and answer incoming calls
• Support audio and video technology at Middlebury Institute events and screenings. Arrive early at events and communicate effectively with event organizers about the technology theyʼll be using for their event.
• May be required to stand or sit for prolonged periods
• Work as a part of a team with students and staff to collaboratively share best practices and work to improve audio video systems and support.

• Basic troubleshooting of audio/video related issues.
• Maintain security of and care for media services materials, including media and equipment.
• Maintain accurate record of check-in and check-out logs for equipment
• May be required to work during exams, weekends mornings, and evening hours
• May be required to work a set weekly schedule

• Expectation of self-directed time and appropriate decision making skills.
• The expectation of training, with refresher training sessions as needed or requested.
• Other duties as assigned by staff

No prior experience or training is required.

All necessary training will be provided upon hiring.

Customer service experience preferred

Student Employment Eligibility:

Unless restricted by certain visa statuses, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus.

Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave, you are eligible to be employed in staff positions.

Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off-campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off-campus work-study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work-study component.

Students are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.

Hour Limitations:

All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on-campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
