Director, Physical Security

Lila Sciences is building the world’s first scientific superintelligence platform and autonomous lab to accelerate discovery in life, chemistry, and materials science. The company seeks an experienced Director of Physical Security to design and lead a scalable, risk-based physical security program that protects employees, executives, laboratories, facilities, and high-value research assets across global sites.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead the physical security program for corporate and lab sites globally, aligning controls to risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee access control, CCTV/surveillance, badge systems, visitor management, and intrusion detection technologies.
  • Conduct site risk assessments and implement tailored physical security controls to protect research integrity and data.
  • Develop and manage executive protection, secure travel protocols, and threat assessment processes for senior leadership.
  • Partner with HR and Legal on workplace violence prevention and behavioral threat assessments.
  • Collaborate with Quality, EHS, Facilities, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure readiness for GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and site inspections.
  • Lead physical security incident response and investigations for theft, unauthorized access, vandalism, and safety events.
  • Select and manage physical security vendors and systems, ensuring high availability and audit readiness.
  • Manage guard force operations, vendor contracts, staffing, procedures, and training across locations.
  • Build and lead regional security managers or contractors and develop cross-site emergency response teams.
  • Serve as liaison to Legal, HR, IT, Clinical, and Compliance and participate in crisis response and business continuity planning.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field (required)
  • Master’s degree in related field (preferred)
  • ASIS CPP or PSP certification (preferred)
