Skills
- Hands-on lab experience with high-speed optical link bring-up and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with high-speed test equipment (BERT, VNA, DCA, AWG)
- Experience with EM/RF and photonic simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, Lumerical, Cadence)
- Strong scripting skills for lab automation and data analysis (Python or MATLAB)
- Understanding of DSP/SerDes configuration and equalization techniques (CTLE, DFE, FFE)
Responsibilities
- Bring up and characterize high-speed optical components (modulators, photodetectors) to meet product specifications.
- Design and execute validation and debug plans, performing link-level electro-optic testing with industry-standard instruments (BERT, DCA, VNA, AWG).
- Collaborate with optics, electronics, and packaging teams to identify root causes and implement fixes using lab data and simulations.
- Analyze high-speed signals using eye diagrams, bathtub curves, and equalization (CTLE, DFE, FFE) to optimize link performance.
- Configure and optimize DSP-based SerDes to interface with custom optical modules and ensure system integration.
- Automate test procedures and analyze results using Python or MATLAB to streamline validation workflows and reporting.
Education
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field (MS required, PhD preferred)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in high-speed optical or photonics engineering and chip/system level bring-up
