Staff Data Engineer
Skills
- 5+ years building and operating high-volume data infrastructure
- Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Spark Streaming and EMR
- Proficiency in Python or Java and advanced SQL
- Strong AWS experience and familiarity with Kinesis/Kafka
- Experience with ETL, job orchestration, CI/CD and Terraform
- Knowledge of data security, governance, data contracts, and quality practices
- Familiarity with lakehouse architectures and modern open table formats
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate scalable data processing platforms for real-time and batch analytics.
- Build and maintain core data infrastructure from ingestion through ETL, storage, and processing.
- Automate, test, and harden data workflows and pipelines for reliability and performance.
- Architect logical and physical data models to meet business analytics and product needs.
- Collaborate with mobile, cloud, product, data science, and analytics teams to apply best practices.
- Develop systems and algorithms for distributed real-time analytics and processing.
- Implement strategies for data acquisition to enable new insights and analytics.
- Mentor and grow junior engineers, promoting best practices and efficient processes.
Education
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS) preferred but not required
