PHP / WordPress Developer
About the Role:
We’re looking for a seasoned PHP / WordPress developer to join our team on a contract basis to support client projects, starting at 50 hours a month. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building custom themes and plugins, troubleshooting legacy WP code, and integrating APIs in modern PHP environments. This is NOT a good fit for someone just starting out. We’re looking for practical experience, demonstrated in real client work.
Requirements:
3+ years of professional PHP and WordPress development experience
Strong command of custom WP theme and plugin development
Familiarity with WP best practices and performance optimization
Solid understanding of PHP (ideally 7.4+), MySQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript
Comfortable working with Git in a collaborative team
Clear communication and reliability in a remote setting
Applicants must be eligible to work as an independent contractor (ICA) for a U.S.-based company.
Nice to Have:
Experience with modern build tools
Familiarity with headless WordPress setups or REST API work
Experience with a modern frontend framework; Vue, React, Angular
Experience debugging across different hosting environments
