Building Structural Engineer

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Phoenix, Arizona (AZ) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Building Structures team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural systems for building projects, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
  • Prepare detailed engineering calculations and drawings
  • Conduct site visits and perform structural inspections
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure integrated solutions
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements to apply best practices
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup with some ability to produce drawings and details, when needed
  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis and design software, such as STAAD, RAM, E-Tabs, MathCAD, TEDDS, ADAPT PT, and other structural related design software
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-discipline to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of projects concurrently
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills with a continuous mindset on personal and staff development
  • Positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic
