Senior/Staff Product Designer (ACF)

In this role, you will drive the design of impactful, user-centered experiences for public-facing digital services. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities, conduct research, and develop elegant solutions that balance user needs with strategic objectives. Operating in a fully remote, agile environment, you will lead design efforts end-to-end—from concept to implementation—while advocating for human-centered design principles and accessibility. Your work will directly influence how government services reach and serve diverse communities, making a tangible difference in people’s lives. This position offers the chance to contribute to high-impact projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and shape design systems used across complex platforms.

Accountabilities:

• Conduct user research and usability studies to inform product decisions and validate solutions.
• Define and design end-to-end interaction flows, incorporating information architecture, design principles, and accessibility standards.
• Create intuitive and visually compelling interfaces, evolving existing design systems and visual elements.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design strategies with product goals.
• Apply iterative design processes, incorporating frequent feedback and human-centered design practices.
• Communicate design rationale effectively across teams and stakeholders, fostering empathy for end users.

• Proven experience in product design with the ability to plan, synthesize, and communicate research insights.
• Strong skills in defining scalable interaction flows and applying information architecture, design principles, and accessibility standards.
• Expertise in creating clean, elegant user interfaces using visual design elements such as typography, iconography, illustration, and microinteractions.
• Experience with design processes (e.g., double diamond) and ability to document work for storytelling and team alignment.
• Ability to influence product strategy by balancing user and business needs in agile, lean methodologies.
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills for engaging teammates, stakeholders, and clients.
• Demonstrated leadership in design execution and mentoring others.
  Nice-to-have: Experience in civic tech, remote team collaboration, or government contracting.

• Competitive salary range for Senior/Staff Product Designer: $150,000–$203,000 USD.
