Python Open-Source Developer (Remote - US)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Python Open-Source Developer in the United States.

In this role, you will develop and maintain Python packages and APIs for advanced tabular data analysis and modeling. You will create tools for exploratory data analysis, preprocessing, feature engineering, visualization, and model interrogation. Working closely with the community and internal teams, you will guide development priorities, document APIs, and contribute to open-source projects. The position offers a highly autonomous environment that emphasizes end-to-end ownership, from coding and testing to engagement with users. You will have the opportunity to shape tooling that impacts data scientists and developers globally, in a collaborative, distributed team setting. This role is ideal for those passionate about open-source software, technical problem solving, and advancing Python-based data analysis capabilities.

Accountabilities:

·         Develop, document, and maintain Python packages and APIs for tabular data analysis and modeling.

·         Reproduce and diagnose reported issues, convert them into unit tests, and implement solutions.

·         Collaborate with team members to plan, execute, and deliver new feature development.

·         Write user-friendly API documentation, guides, and tutorials.

·         Engage with the open-source community through training, presentations, blog posts, and other developer relations activities.

·         Help define technical roadmap and prioritize projects based on user needs and community engagement.

·         Strong, fundamental knowledge of Python as a primary programming language.

·         Experience with advanced tabular data techniques, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and visualization.

·         Proficiency with Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration.

·         Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

·         Self-motivated and independent, with a passion for open-source software development.

·         (Preferred) Experience contributing to Python packages or open-source projects.

·         (Preferred) Hands-on experience in real-world tabular data analysis and modeling.
