Network Engineer (Remote - US)

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain high-performance, secure network infrastructures across shipboard, shore-based, and cloud environments. This role ensures reliable connectivity, enabling real-time data workflows and operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with federal cybersecurity mandates. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize data flows, and implement robust network solutions. This fully remote position offers opportunities to work on impactful projects that support critical operations, enhance connectivity, and strengthen cybersecurity across distributed systems.

Accountabilities

• Stage, configure, and maintain networking hardware including firewalls, HCI systems, and related devices.
• Implement, monitor, and optimize secure data flows between ships, shore facilities, and cloud platforms.
• Configure and manage VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN, and routing protocols to ensure high availability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues, providing Tier 2 support as needed.
• Maintain comprehensive network documentation, performance metrics, and change logs.
• Coordinate with engineering and operational teams to integrate systems and resolve network incidents.
• Support annual penetration testing, vulnerability scans, and cybersecurity initiatives.

• 5+ years of experience with enterprise or field-deployable networks.
• Strong understanding of IP networking, routing protocols, and secure connectivity practices.
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Cisco, VLANs, Anycast, BGP, and MPLS.
• Proficiency with Linux systems and scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex system and application issues effectively.
• Strong documentation, version control, and communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Preferred: Fortinet NSE certifications, CompTIA Network+, or Cisco CCNA certification.
