This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Data Science, Ads Delivery & Performance in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-impact data science organization focused on optimizing advertising delivery and performance across multiple digital surfaces. You will set strategic direction, define measurable outcomes, and establish frameworks for input metrics that drive business results and user experience. The position combines leadership of managers and senior data scientists with hands-on oversight of measurement, experimentation, and production analytics. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to translate complex business questions into actionable insights and system improvements. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker and systems-oriented leader who thrives in high-scale, data-driven environments and is passionate about driving measurable impact in a digital marketplace.
Accountabilities:
· Define multi-year vision and roadmap for ads delivery and performance, aligning with organizational priorities.
· Establish north-star outcomes and input metrics to directly influence ad quality, revenue, and user experience.
· Build and scale a high-performing organization of data science managers and senior ICs, setting clear role definitions, growth paths, and succession plans.
· Lead the design and oversight of experimentation, causal inference, and production analytics to ensure trustworthy decision-grade outputs.
· Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on ranking, pacing, relevance, and other ad systems to drive measurable business impact.
· Translate complex business questions into structured analyses and actionable roadmaps.
· Communicate findings and strategic direction to executives and cross-functional stakeholders, creating transparent operating cadences and reviews.
· MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
· 10+ years of experience in Data Science, Algorithmic Engineering, or Machine Learning, with significant exposure to digital advertising or large-scale marketplaces.
· 5+ years managing data science organizations, including managers and multi-team structures in a technology company.
· Deep experience in statistical analysis, causal inference, experiment design, and measurement for complex marketplaces.
· Expertise in production analytics and large-scale data tooling (Python/R, SQL, Spark/Hive or equivalent).
· Applied ML or relevance/ranking systems experience; familiarity with auction dynamics, pacing, bidding, and quality/relevance modeling.
· Proven track record in defining and operationalizing input metrics tied to business outcomes.
· Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to influence senior cross-functional partners and executives.
