This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Engineering - Artificial Intelligence in United States.

In this role, you will lead the design, development, and execution of advanced AI platforms and machine learning applications, enabling product teams to deliver innovative AI-powered solutions. You will guide both the technical strategy and the operational execution of AI initiatives, working across product, infrastructure, and data science teams to drive impactful outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for growing and mentoring top-tier AI talent, influencing organizational AI strategy, and shaping the future of AI deployment across multiple business lines. You will also represent the organization at conferences and industry events, showcasing thought leadership and innovation in AI.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and execution of AI platforms and machine learning applications across all business lines.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable machine learning solutions, establishing success criteria and delivering production-ready models.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of advanced AI, LLM, VectorDB, and statistical frameworks.
  • Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to enhance AI capabilities and integration into products and systems.
  • Hire, mentor, and grow high-performing AI/ML teams, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging AI technologies and trends, representing the organization at academic and industrial conferences.
  • Ensure all AI initiatives adhere to governance, ethical standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Complete special projects and other responsibilities as required to support organizational goals.

  • MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of experience in machine learning and data science within high-growth, high-velocity environments.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and developing AI/ML teams.
  • Proven record of delivering AI-driven products and features that drive business impact.
  • Strong technical expertise spanning software engineering, systems engineering, machine learning, and computational modeling.
  • Experience with large-language models (LLMs), vector databases, cloud-based ML products, and GPU computing.
  • Track record of patents, publications, or other innovations in AI/ML or related domains.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, capable of explaining complex AI concepts to executives and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a bias for action, problem-solving aptitude, and passion for delivering high-quality AI solutions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences and events (up to 10%).

  • Competitive base salary of $200,000–$240,000 with discretionary bonus eligibility.
