Director, Distinguished Engineer ( Remote)

This senior engineering leadership role is designed for highly experienced technical experts who drive innovation, optimize complex systems, and provide thought leadership across multiple domains. You will influence the technical vision, mentor top engineering talent, and help shape next-generation solutions with long-term business impact. The position balances hands-on technical contribution with strategic oversight, guiding teams across distributed, cloud-based, and high-performance computing environments. You will be responsible for ensuring best practices, architectural excellence, and scalable engineering solutions, while fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture that promotes innovation and knowledge sharing. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and help define the future of large-scale engineering systems.

Accountabilities:

The Director, Distinguished Engineer will lead through technical expertise, mentorship, and strategic guidance:

  • Articulate and evangelize bold technical visions for key engineering domains.
  • Decompose complex problems into practical, operational solutions and ensure technical design quality.
  • Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, including performance, scalability, and operability.
  • Lead multiple high-impact projects simultaneously, prioritizing to maximize outcomes.
  • Mentor and coach engineering teams, strengthening technical expertise and fostering a culture of learning.
  • Contribute to organizational knowledge by creating clear documentation, code samples, and thought leadership content.
  • Stay abreast of advanced technical developments and inject cutting-edge practices into engineering communities.

Candidates should bring extensive technical experience and leadership skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, system architecture, and full lifecycle development.
  • Expertise in web technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, SPA frameworks) and mobile platforms (iOS, Android).
  • Experience designing and building distributed high-performance computing (HPC) and machine learning systems.
  • Knowledge in network engineering, security engineering, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and advanced networking concepts (BGP, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Strong coding experience in multiple languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, or similar.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, balancing technical execution with strategic oversight.
  • Strong mentorship and leadership capabilities, fostering technical excellence across teams.
  • Competitive remote salary range: $239,900 – $273,800 annually (location-dependent).
