Assistant Technical Designer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Assistant Technical Designer in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and production of apparel products from concept to mass production. You will work closely with designers, merchants, and technical teams to ensure garments meet quality, fit, function, and delivery standards. You will participate in fit sessions, manage samples, and maintain technical documentation while supporting risk assessment and workflow planning. This position allows you to gain hands-on experience with garment specifications, technical packages, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, creative environment. You will help ensure products are commercially viable and meet established quality benchmarks.


  • Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with designers and merchants to interpret design concepts and ensure products meet fit, function, price, and delivery goals.
  • Establish and maintain garment specifications to guide technical partners in developing high-quality products.
  • Lead and participate in fit sessions, documenting feedback and ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Track and manage all samples, packages, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate calendars, planners, and workflows for fit sessions and production timelines.
  • Calibrate new vendor technical partners to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Assess garments for readiness for mass production, including trims, engineering, and commercial approval.
  • Ensure final tech packs meet labeling, marketing, and packing requirements, adhering to category standards and approved exceptions.
  • Maintain and improve technical standards, processes, procedures, and tools within the department.

  • Requirements
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience in apparel or technical design.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Basic communication skills, both written and verbal, with aptitude for teamwork and leadership during fit sessions.
  • Understanding of apparel factory operations and patternmaking fundamentals.
  • Agile, adaptable, and solution-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently from start to finish within timelines.
  • Basic eye for design aesthetic details.
  • Proficiency with technical design tools and software, including BeProduct, Adobe Illustrator CS6, Accumark 10.3, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.

  • Compensation range: $55,200 – $73,400, dependent on location, experience, and skills.
