Chief Operating Officer

Our client, a renewable energy company, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join their leadership team. The COO will be responsible for overseeing the company's day-to-day operational functions across brand operational sites and the overall operational aspects of the company, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring that all business operations are aligned with the strategic goals of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading complex operational processes, optimizing performance, and fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving organizational vision and operational strategy.
  • Collaborate with Executive Team Members translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning and execution.
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate strategic goals and plans with the operational team to achieve operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with People and Culture Leaders to oversee company operations, employee productivity and build a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and organizational goals are met.
  • Adhere to company, statutory and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to manage and optimize the company's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Evaluate the business performance by periodically conducting data analysis of key metrics and reporting them to CEO and investors.
  • Support the CEO in fundraising ventures, investor relationship management and fully participate in business expansion activities.
  • Take lead in bridging client and company interests in the delivery of product and services by regularly engaging various stakeholders through various initiatives.

Operational Leadership

  • Support the building of a culture of performance, unity, cohesion and teamwork within the organization.
  • Lead the development and implementation of efficient operational systems, processes, and policies across the organisation.
  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the delivery of objectives by each Operations team.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with other senior executives to identify their needs and provide comprehensive organizational solutions.
  • Build the capacity of team / department leaders in enhance cross matrix relationships and problem-solving measures to mitigate disruptions in service and foster an environment of collaboration and cohesion
  • Solicit and provide constructive feedback to staff to encourage the development of strengths and address areas for growth.
  • Ensure all operational staff understand and are aware of  departmental SOP’s and abide by them.
  • Provide training, coaching and support to staff to sharpen their skills and help them accomplish tasks more efficiently.
  • Handles conflict resolution within the team.
  • Listen to concerns/needs of the team and provide feedback to stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with partners / vendors to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure a high standard of confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Operations Management is essential.
  • Masters in Operations Management, MBA, Project Management is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience leading operations in a similar role for organisation with retail operations.
  • Understanding and exposure of other business functions (Finance, I.T, Human Resources and Legal) is essential.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning, business development and driving a performance culture, with evidence of previous results attained.
  • Experience in fundraising will be an additional advantage.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
