Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution, and a member of the University System of Maryland, is accepting applications to fill a full-time tenure track faculty position of English in the department of Humanities within the College of Arts & Sciences and Education (CASE) at Coppin State University. Coppin is an urban residential Historically Black College and University (HBCU) serving nearly 3,000 students enrolled in day, evening, weekend, and online courses.Responsibilities:
Teach Upper and Lower-level courses in English, including Film and Media Studies, Media and Communication, Creative non-fiction, and other course assignments necessary to General Education and the English BA program.
Maintain office hours, conference with students, and conduct advisement with assigned advisees.
Participate in service activities conducted by the University, College, Department, and Community, which includes outreach to Community Colleges and High Schools.
Other duties as assigned as related to faculty workload policy
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
PhD in English or a closely related area OR an MFA in Creative Writing, Film Studies, or Media Production
Experience
Three (3) years of teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Be able to use different teaching modalities, face to face and online teaching.
Promote the continued growth of the English program.
Recruit, advise, and mentor students in their research work in English, Digital Media and Communication.
Prior experience working with a diverse population of students in a diverse learning environment.
Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively on department and university-wide committees.
