The Vice President, Commercial Performance will provide leadership and guidance to our growing portfolio of hotels to drive commercial strategy, focusing on hotel sales, positioning, marketing, and revenue management to hit financial targets. The role will help shape hotel-level strategy and will be the primary senior commercial lead working with our field teams (Regional VPs, hotel General Managers, and the local/area sales and marketing teams) and our Home Office subject matter experts in finance, portfolio management, sales, marketing communications, e-commerce, revenue management, and operations. The VP will also be the primary Home Office contact with hotel ownership groups regarding commercial strategy of the properties and work closely with our Home Office Senior Leadership Team.
The individual, who reports to the SVP of Sales & Marketing, is an influential leader with strong business acumen, a proven track record of delivering financial results, and a solid understanding and appreciation of the high-end, luxury consumer market. The individual thrives off of working in a fast-paced, dynamic, results-oriented, entrepreneurial environment.
This role is based in our Bethesda office where we offer a hybrid work schedule. This role will travel up to 40% depending on projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Hotel-level commercial strategy support: Play a key role in strategically positioning each property in a unique manner to attract very high-end luxury travelers and the travel industry to increase market share
Leadership: Be the key senior Home Office S&M lead to support property teams in driving P&L results and embody our ENRICH values (Excellence, Nurturing, Respect, Individuality, Curious, Heartfelt)
Financial performance acceleration: Lead and influence hotels in the development and implementation of effective business and sales & marketing plans to meet topline and bottom line financial goals and drive RevPAR Index growth versus competitive set
Capability building: Inspire, develop, and guide field teams to drive sales and marketing innovation and performance excellence across the portfolio of hotels and residential properties
Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with home office discipline experts in finance, portfolio management, operations, sales, ecommerce, public relations, partnerships, and experiences
Cross-portfolio strategy: Funnel opportunities identified across portfolio to SVP of Sales & Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer to refine enterprise-wide commercial approaches
10 years of total experience with any of the following experiences:
4+ years of management consulting experience at McKinsey, Bain, or BCG, or like company with experience leading and delivering on high stakes engagements with senior stakeholders. >80% average utilization on client engagements across this period
4+ years in private equity portfolio operations
6+ years in a sales strategy or marketing role at multiple growth-stage start-ups
2+ years of experience as a people manager
Demonstrated success owning a P&L and/or heavily influencing a P&L (e.g., through consulting recommendations). Intimate knowledge and practical application of the drivers and levers to create value within a P&L is essential
Strong commercial intuition and acumen. Commercial strategy experience building go-to-market strategies, pricing strategies, customer segmentations, marketing plans, etc.
Experience building relationships with and influencing senior stakeholders to deliver results. Adept at driving projects through strong project management and informal influencing mechanisms
Strong verbal and written executive communications, with experience personally presenting to C-suite executives
Driven and innovative, with a team player and ownership mindset. High level of curiosity, with the ability to multi-task, and a penchant for finding opportunities where others find problems. Someone who “rolls-up their sleeves” to get it done and inspires others with their vision and acumen
Strong level of emotional intelligence, with a reputation for caring for colleagues
Appetite to lead in an innovative, fast-paced organization with high standards of excellence
Experience working cross-functionally across global teams

The Vice President, Commercial Performance role offers a base salary range of $235-265k plus an annual bonus as well as comprehensive medical, dental, vision and voluntary benefits, 401k employer match, employer paid life insurance and an employee assistance program and a team member hotel stay program.
