Job Description
Join our Engineering Department in a dynamic role blending project leadership and hands-on engineering support for mining operations. The Surface Engineer/Project Manager is instrumental in maintaining and optimizing refuse sites, fan and electrical sites, pipe and pump stations, water-handling, pond dipping, etc. Your strong teamwork, communication, and technical instincts will help drive efficiency and safety across our operations.
Qualifications
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead project planning: develop scopes of work, bidding, and oversee project execution.
- Manage budgets effectively—track costs and help ensure projects are delivered within financial guidelines.
- Oversee site management and development for refuse sites, fan sites, shaft sites, and pump houses.
- Conduct site and pond inspections to ensure regulatory and operational standards are met.
- Perform material take-offs.
- Invoicing
- Scheduling
- Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline operations through research and innovation.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of project management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with Auto-CAD
- Background in civil or mine engineering (PE is a plus)
- Construction management experience highly valued
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or mining engineering preferred – but not required
- Relevant experience in construction management or similar practical roles is equally welcome.
