- Strong construction defect claim handling and coverage analysis
- Litigation management experience and oversight of defense counsel
- Adjusting license for designated home state; willingness to obtain additional licenses
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good judgment and decision-making on liability and settlement authority
- Ability to document and maintain detailed claim files
Responsibilities
- Adjust complex and high-exposure construction defect claims for assigned programs
- Research and document applicable coverage, limits, exclusions, and coverage dates
- Draft reservations of rights and coverage denials for supervisory review
- Investigate losses by obtaining statements, contracts, repair estimates, expert reports, photos and correspondence
- Assign, monitor and direct defense counsel, independent adjusters, and experts
- Evaluate, set and recommend reserves; escalate exposures above authority to supervisor/manager
- Exercise settlement authority within assigned limits and negotiate settlements
- Prepare written reports and document all claim file activities per company policy
- Provide regular updates to insureds, claimants, underwriters and carriers
- Ensure claims handling adheres to applicable Fair Claims Practices and regulatory requirements
Education
- College degree or equivalent claims management experience required
- Willingness to obtain and maintain required state adjusting licenses
