Senior CFX Character TD (CONTRACT)
Skills
- Expert Maya technical and animation knowledge
- Strong scripting in MEL, Python, and PyMel for CFX and character setup
- Proven experience with offline simulation systems (Houdini/Vellum, nCloth, ZivaVFX)
- Working knowledge of runtime simulation systems (Havok, UE4 cloth, PhysX)
- Shot-finaling and cinematic simulation techniques
- Understanding of physical anatomy and realistic skin/muscle deformation
Responsibilities
- Create and finalize high-quality character simulation setups (anatomy, cloth, hair) for shots and real-time use
- Collaborate with Character Artists, Riggers, Animators, Designers, and Engineers to integrate simulations
- Implement and maintain simulation and CFX pipeline tools and processes
- Communicate progress and track deliverables in Jira, ensuring on-time completion
- Provide feedback, mentorship, and technical guidance to other CFX artists
- Optimize simulations for offline render and runtime systems and interface with renderfarm/processing systems
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, tooling, and cross-department communication
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred (B.A. or equivalent)
- Or 5–7 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
