Laboratory Director-Level Role - Cytogenetics

The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is recruiting a full-time role at the Director-level for its Cytogenetics Laboratory. Applicants must hold an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD and be board-certified or eligible in Clinical Cytogenetics/Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. The position involves the co-direction of a comprehensive cytogenetics laboratory including chromosome analysis, FISH, and chromosomal microarray on neoplastic and constitutional specimens. Continuous development and implementation of new cytogenetic tests and technology platforms will be an important component of this position.
The Department of Pathology at BIDMC is in the process undertaking major expansion in Cytogenetics, Genetics Diagnostics, Anatomic Pathology, Hematopathology, Digital Pathology, Computational Pathology. Additionally, the pathology department will be part of the exciting new clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment dedicated to transforming cancer treatment.
In addition to clinical and administrative responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to be active in pathology resident and fellow training as well as to develop a strong program in basic, applied, or translational research.
The candidate will be appointed to the full-time faculty of Harvard Medical School at an academic rank at the Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor level commensurate with a candidate’s overall academic experience.
