Compliance Manager

Hi, we’re Gravie. Our mission is to improve the way people purchase and access healthcare through innovative, consumer-centric health benefit solutions that people can actually use. Our industry-changing products and services are developed and delivered by a diverse group of unique people. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.

A Little More About The Role:

Are you passionate about navigating complex regulations to drive positive impact? The Compliance Manager plays a vital role in supporting Gravie's commitment to understanding and adhering to the intricate regulatory landscape governing health benefits. This individual will be a key contributor in shaping our compliance operations, providing essential guidance on cutting-edge plan designs, and actively fostering a culture of integrity that underpins our mission to transform healthcare. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in how our members experience their benefits.

You Will:

●      Regulatory Monitoring & Analysis:

○      Monitor changes in federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and related guidance.

○      Analyze the impact of new or revised regulations on Gravie's operations, products, and services, and help communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

○      Support the project management and implementation of new regulatory requirements, helping to ensure end-to-end documentation of successful implementation and ongoing compliance.

●      Plan Document & SPD Compliance:

○      Support the review, development, and maintenance of Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) and other member-facing regulatory materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with all applicable laws (e.g., ERISA disclosure requirements, ACA mandates).

○      Assist with SPD and SBC amendments and updates.

○      Assist with compliance efforts for Gravie's non-ERISA book of business, including conducting state research and supporting the development of compliant plan documents.

●      Benefit Design & Administration Compliance:

○      Provide compliance assistance on health plan design, eligibility, benefits, and administration.

○      Contribute to the review and advise on proposed plan variations, exceptions, and unique benefit requests, assessing compliance implications.

●      State Regulatory Filings & Reporting Support:

○      Facilitate and track state regulatory filings, including TPA licensing, Secretary of State qualifications, and annual reports.

●      Regulatory Inquiry & Complaint Response Support:

○      Support the response efforts to regulatory inquiries and complaints from agencies (e.g., DOL, State Insurance Departments, Attorney General) in a timely and comprehensive manner.

●      Compliance Program Operations & Documentation:

○      Assist in building and refining processes to document all compliance activities and decisions. This includes managing the end-to-end compliance investigation process when gaps or potential issues are identified, ensuring thorough documentation of findings and resolutions, and ongoing monitoring.

○      Help develop and support the oversight of the intake processes for new compliance requests and inquiries from internal stakeholders.

You Bring:

●      Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Legal Studies).

●      3-5 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, specifically with group health plans.

●      Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other regulatory frameworks applicable to self-funded commercial health plans is required.

●      Experience with plan documents, SPDs, and benefit administration processes.

●      Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations.

●      Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating legal requirements into practical business guidance.

●      Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.

●      High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ethical conduct.

Extra Credit:

●      Previous start up company experience

●      Project management skills/experience

●      Government reporting experience related to healthcare and/or benefits
