Skills
- Advanced Python with Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn and gradient-boosting libraries (e.g., LightGBM).
- Hands-on deep learning experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and familiarity with modern architectures (Transformers, neural nets, LLMs).
- Proven experience modeling health insurance claims, EMR, or prescription data for underwriting or care management.
- Fluent SQL and experience with relational databases and Databricks.
- Experience working in AWS or comparable cloud environments.
- Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement predictive models for underwriting and patient care management using ML and deep learning.
- Analyze large health insurance datasets (claims, EMR, prescriptions) to surface trends, anomalies, and predictive signals.
- Prototype new modeling approaches and evaluate model performance, fairness, and business impact.
- Collaborate with product, data engineering, software engineering, actuarial, clinical, and IT teams to translate requirements into production solutions.
- Productionize models and monitor performance in collaboration with engineering and MLOps teams.
- Communicate technical results and model implications to nontechnical stakeholders and business partners.
- Stay current with industry trends, propose innovations, and apply best practices in data science and health insurance modeling.
Education
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or related field AND 8+ years professional data science experience in health insurance underwriting or care management
- OR Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or related field AND 3+ years professional data science experience in health insurance underwriting or care management
