About the job:

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require program managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager focused on AI/ML & DSP development in TechEng, you’ll keep an innovative engineering team firing on all cylinders. You will be the crucial link between groundbreaking research, efficient operations, and strategic data acquisition. You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, and external partners to get high-quality AI/ML based features built, validated, and released on time. We are seeking an exceptional and technical AI/ML Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our Audio EPM team in TechEng. Your involvement in helping to release the next generation of exciting audio features will directly impact the user experience for the people who buy Google Hardware.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with research scientists, audio engineers, user experience researchers, product managers, and a broad cross-functional team to lead the planning, execution, tracking, and delivery of multiple, complex, cross-functional AI/ML and DSP projects from ideation through research, prototyping, data strategy, and operational readiness.
  • Establish and advocate for best practices for ML development, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability of ML systems.
  • Drive development of multiple audio features throughout their entire life lifecycle by resolving dependencies, evaluating risks and communicating status to senior management, project stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Identify and remove obstacles hindering development. Identify communication gaps, manage issue escalations and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities.
  • Establish processes to help scale execution, identify systemic problems and recommend solutions, clarify roles and responsibilities for core teams involved in AI/ML development.
