Skills
- Significant professional experience with Python for service/backend development.
- Frontend development experience using JavaScript and frameworks like Vue.js (React experience applicable).
- Familiarity with GraphQL and test frameworks such as RSpec.
- Experience working with large language models, generative AI systems, or AI integrations.
- Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills for web-scale systems.
- Comfort working asynchronously and remotely with strong written and verbal English communication.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, well-tested, high-performance features across backend and frontend for Duo Chat.
- Integrate and extend AI/LLM providers (e.g., Google Vertex AI) and build tooling around generative AI workflows.
- Collaborate with Product, Backend, Frontend, and UX to deliver iterative improvements and maintain a high bar for quality.
- Write and maintain automated tests, improve test coverage, and drive testing and debugging best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues; propose and implement technical debt remediation.
- Participate in Tier 2/3 on-call rotations and assist with urgent production troubleshooting when needed.
- Contribute to public-facing communication and community contributions representing GitLab values.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant continuous learning or certifications in AI/ML or software engineering are a plus.
