Skills
- Experience managing and scaling product design teams
- Proven track record designing AI/ML-driven products and natural language interfaces
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps, SDLC, and developer workflows
- Experience conducting and interpreting UX research for technical audiences
- Ability to collaborate with engineering on constraints and implementation
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of 5 AI Product Designers with regular feedback and career development
- Define and execute the design strategy for AI products across the GitLab platform
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering to shape AI roadmaps and prioritize features
- Establish AI-specific design standards, patterns, and best practices
- Guide user research and usability testing for complex AI interactions and developer workflows
- Contribute to and evolve the Pajamas Design System with AI components
- Present design strategy and outcomes to executive and cross-functional stakeholders
- Foster a user-centered design culture and cross-team collaboration
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MA, MSc, MFA) in design or related field preferred but not required
- Portfolio demonstrating product design and leadership outcomes
