Consultant Relations, Investment Analyst

Job Description:

You have a passion for investments, digging into the details and working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Supporting/partnering with the relationship managers within the Consultant Relations team will enable you to deepen your institutional investment knowledge while allowing you to develop strong client relationships both inside and outside Fidelity.

The Role

The Consultant Relations Investment Analyst plays a key role within the Consultant Relations team by coordinating and responding to ad hoc requests for investment data, RFPs/RFIs and due diligence questionnaires. With Relationship Managers spending 35-45% of their time meeting with consultants, you are able to respond quickly and efficiently to due diligence requests, which often require quick turnarounds. Successfully meeting these expectations will require you to develop a deep understanding of the investment content, in addition to building positive relationships with internal partners across Asset Management, Investment Product, RFP Team and Workplace Investing (WI). Most importantly, it will require you to build strong external relationships with the analysts and consultants we support. Consultants play an increasingly important and influential role in the institutional investment industry, and the work you do to support them provides a critical foundation for a strong partnership with Fidelity.

The Institutional Client Group is an integrated investment, distribution and client service organization dedicated to meeting the unique needs of the institutional marketplace. The Consultant Relations team serves as the gateway for consultants and retirement advisors servicing institutional investors, such as defined contribution and defined benefit plans, to access Fidelity’s best-in-class asset management capabilities.

  • Working proficiency in Excel, Salesforce, Morningstar Direct and other online web applications
  • Strong project management skills; ability to strategically coordinate and complete multiple projects (internal and external) simultaneously
  • Initiative, resourceful, ability to solve problems independently, while exercising sound business judgement
  • The ability to gather, interpret and synthesize disparate investment data from different sources will be one of your strongest traits
  • Your collaboration skills and ability to work horizontally and vertically within the organization will serve you well in this role
  • Your colleagues would describe you as having a strong understanding of financial markets, Fidelity investment managers, trends within retirement industry, and key consulting firms across the institutional investment industry.
  • Your developing communication, relationship management and meeting facilitation skills will be crucial in this role, particularly as you become more involved with the consultant relationships, video calls and meetings.
  • Supply external consultants and research analysts with detailed investment information on Fidelity products. For example, investment performance, portfolio characteristics, commentary and attribution, a concise portrayal of process and philosophy, and ultimately messaging the competitive advantage of Fidelity’s asset management capabilities
  • Coordinate with the RFP Team the completion of detailed RFPs/RFIs and due diligence questionnaires. In some cases, these would be completed directly by the Consultant Relations team
  • Provide insightful market perspectives and impactful feedback to the broader CR team and Asset Management product teams from interactions with the institutional investment community
  • Schedule, coordinate, participate and as needed host conference calls with portfolio managers and institutional portfolio managers to review Fidelity investment products
  • Schedule, coordinate and participate in onsite due diligence meetings with Fidelity portfolio managers, CIOs and institutional portfolio managers
