We’re a high-performance, low-ego team driven by urgency, collaboration, and bold thinking. Working at Flock means tackling big challenges, moving fast, and continuously improving. It’s intense but deeply rewarding for those who want to make an impact.
With nearly $700M in venture funding and a $7.5B valuation, we’re scaling intentionally and seeking top talent to help build the impossible. If you value teamwork, ownership, and solving tough problems, Flock could be the place for you.
As Flock Safety’s visibility and impact continue to grow, we’re seeking a Vice President of Communications to shape a clear, credible, and compelling narrative around the public value Flock delivers across communities nationwide. This leader will elevate how ethical, transparent technology deployment drives safety outcomes and builds trust at scale.
This is a rare opportunity to operate at the intersection of public safety, technology, media, and policy—partnering with journalists, third-party organizations, and public stakeholders during a defining moment for the industry.
The Vice President of Communications will own Flock Safety’s end-to-end communications strategy, with a dual mandate:
Lead with authority in high-stakes moments, owning crisis, issues, and reputational management.
Proactively shape a values-led narrative that builds trust, influences perception, and positions Flock as a thoughtful, responsible leader in public safety technology.
This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional judgment, speed, and composure under pressure—paired with the ability to think long-term about narrative, positioning, and credibility.
Define and drive Flock Safety’s core narrative, ensuring consistency across press, owned channels, executive messaging, and customer communications.
Shift the organization from reactive to proactive by elevating stories of impact, responsibility, innovation, and trust.
Lead executive communications, including CEO positioning, speaking opportunities, op-eds, and interviews.
Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier national, technology, and policy reporters.
Serve as Flock’s primary communications leader during rapid-response situations, including negative press, misinformation, and sensitive policy moments.
Continuously evaluate and strengthen crisis communications plans, messaging frameworks, and escalation protocols.
Partner closely with Legal, Policy, Product, and Executive Leadership to ensure accurate, aligned, and timely responses.
Act as a trusted advisor to executives on reputational risk and public response strategy.
Lead, develop, and scale a lean, high-impact communications team.
Establish clear priorities, workflows, and expectations to move quickly without sacrificing quality.
Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, External Affairs, Policy, Product, Customer Success, Sales, and People teams.
12+ years of communications experience, including senior leadership roles.
Proven experience leading crisis communications in high-visibility, highly scrutinized environments (e.g., technology, public safety, government, or policy-adjacent industries).
Demonstrated success reshaping public narratives over time—not just managing press.
On-air experience across TV, radio, and/or long-form podcasts, including executive coaching ahead of appearances.
Exceptional judgment, clarity of thought, and ability to operate under pressure.
Strong media relationships and executive presence.
Experience managing and scaling small, high-performing teams.
Experience supporting investor relations.
At Flock, we believe strong outcomes are built through momentum—good days lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This 90-day plan outlines how a leader in this role would onboard, build context, and begin delivering impact. It is intentionally high-level and represents a preview of the approach, not a detailed execution plan.
The first month is focused on immersion and trust-building, with an emphasis on understanding Flock’s mission, culture, customers, and operating environment.
Key themes include:
Building strong relationships with executive leadership and cross-functional partners
Gaining firsthand exposure to customers, communities, and the public safety ecosystem
Developing an informed understanding of existing narratives, risks, and opportunities
Learning how decisions are made, teams collaborate, and information flows across the organization
By day 30, this role will have a clear baseline view of stakeholder expectations, external perception, and internal operating rhythms—grounded in real conversations, not assumptions.
With foundational context established, the second phase focuses on translating insights into structure and early execution.
Focus areas include:
Developing a clear, values-led narrative framework aligned to Flock’s mission and responsibility
Adapting messaging for different audiences while maintaining consistency and credibility
Pressure-testing narratives through real-world feedback
Strengthening internal readiness through alignment, coaching, and scenario planning
This phase prioritizes iteration over perfection—testing, learning quickly, and aligning leadership around a confident, shared point of view.
The final phase shifts from building to scaling, with an emphasis on durable systems and measurable impact.
Key outcomes include:
Activating messaging across priority channels and stakeholders
Establishing clear measurement and feedback loops to assess narrative impact
Creating a sustainable operating cadence for the function
Aligning leadership on priorities, success metrics, and long-term direction
By day 90, this role is operating with clarity, momentum, and trust—supported by a forward-looking roadmap aligned to Flock’s growth, reputation, and mission.
