Motor Mechanical Design Engineer
Skills
- Strong fundamentals in stress analysis, material selection, and tolerance stack-ups
- Experience designing for high-speed rotating systems and rotor balancing
- Proficiency in CAD tools, preferably CATIA V5 or V6
- Knowledge of adhesives, magnet bonding, and rotor manufacturing best practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical design of motor subcomponents including rotor, stator laminations, shaft assemblies, and magnet retention structures
- Design, release, and iterate lamination stacks for permanent magnet motors
- Collaborate with electromagnetic, thermal, and control teams to align mechanical solutions
- Work on magnet selection and adhesive strategies focusing on rotor structural integrity and manufacturability
- Perform structural FEA for rotor stress and dynamics
- Drive motor CAD modeling using CATIA and manage BOMs and drawings from prototype to production
- Support motor rotor balancing (static and dynamic)
- Interface with vendors for sourcing laminations, shafts, and magnets
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
